Following Josh Freese’s departure from the Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins’ drum tech, Fiona Jeans, confirmed leaving the band with a new post on Instagram.
A fan posted a congratulation message to Josh Freese and Fiona Jeans on Instagram, saying, “Congrats to Josh Freese and his rad drum tech Fiona, who will be joining him on the road.”
Hawkins’ drum tech responded to the post confirming her split with the Foos, and said, “Yewww!!”
This development shows Josh Freese and Taylor Hawkins’ drum tech’s strong relationship, which they will now take to the Nine Inch Nails gig.
Josh Freese announced his sudden firing from Foo Fighters earlier this year in a post he shared on Instagram. Freese revealed he was fired from the band over the phone without receiving any real reason for it. He stated, “The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they’ve decided ‘to go in a different direction with their drummer.’ No reason was given.”
Following his exit from the band, Freese announced that he rejoined Nine Inch Nails. “NIN was a band that left me walking off stage every single night thinking, ‘That was incredible. We absolutely crushed it’,” he said. “And it wasn’t just a feeling, it was a certainty. That level of intensity, pride, and satisfaction after each show is something I’ve rarely experienced anywhere.”
The drummer continued, “Now, being back on tour with Trent and the crew—helping them do what they do best night after night—is something I’m incredibly excited about. To be part of that energy again feels amazing.”
Foo Fighters reportedly replaced Freese with Nine Inch Nails’ drummer Ilan Rubin, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The band hasn’t officially announced Rubin’s status within the band.
