Dexter director Marcos Siega has revealed that System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian will appear as a guest star in the upcoming second season of Dexter: Resurrection.
Siega shared a first-look image of Odadjian from the set. The image confirms that the musician has landed a guest role as the character ‘R.H. Martin’ in the new season.
“A few first look images of our upcoming season,” Siega said.
The announcement was met with enthusiasm from fans of the band. One commented, “Shavo makes an appearance?? What a surprise!! I’m soo excited, thank you for this,” while another added, “Amazing song choice and amazing casting of Shavo!”
Odadjian’s casting is not his first brush with the screen. The bassist previously appeared as himself in the 2005 film Sisters and had a cameo in the 2008 film The Education of Charlie Banks. These roles gave him a modest but established presence in front of the camera before landing this part.
The second season of Dexter: Resurrection is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious yet. Krysten Ritter has been confirmed as a guest star, while Brian Cox, Dan Stevens, and Bokeem Woodbine are also set to appear.
Showrunner Clyde Phillips has indicated an October 2026 premiere window as the target. Paramount+ has not yet announced an official release date, though the network has confirmed the season will arrive later this year.
The series premiered its first season on July 11, 2025, on Paramount+ with Showtime. It was renewed in October 2025 following a warm critical reception. The second season is currently in production, with further details expected to follow.
