You may have heard the news about Sum 41’s disbandment earlier. More details on this matter have recently been shared by the band.
In May, Sum 41 revealed their intention to disband following the conclusion of the global tour for the ‘Heaven :x: Hell’ album. More recently, the rockers shared the details of their final tour on X.
The rockers shared the details of their final tour in a recent post and wrote the following words:
“There comes a time when it all has to end.”
While the presale tickets are now available, the general sale will be starting on January 19.
Why Is Sum 41 Disbanding?

While it has been commonly known that Sum 41 has been actively working on new music, the decision to announce their disbandment in May may have caught some by surprise.
The frontman, Deryck Whibley, has consistently expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming double album, ‘Heaven :x: Hell.’ Unlike a typical promotional talk, Whibley genuinely believes that the new music represents some of the band’s best work, but there is one thing he does not believe, meaning it would have been the end of the band either way:
“I’m a big believer in that the music tells you what to do, and it just told me this should be a double album. Once that album was finished, I’d realized, and I’d been thinking this for a while, that I felt like after all these years with my 1,000 percent focus on Sum 41 all day, every day, I felt like I don’t have much more of that in me to continue past this record.”
The Intentions For The Final Album Were Different

Apparently, the frontman did not know they were making a double album, since they started out with a classic pop-punk record, but not for themselves. The album is now split into two different sounds: One is closer to their signature pop-punk sound, while the other is ‘heavier.’
When questioned about whether ‘Heaven :x: Hell’ was intentionally crafted as Sum 41’s final album in an earlier interview, Whibley revealed that he hadn’t initially intended to create a concluding record for the band:
“When I started writing songs for this record, I didn’t even know I was writing songs for Sum 41. I thought I was writing for other people, because at the beginning of the pandemic, I was getting asked by managers and record labels if I’d work with some of their artists. They were looking for pop-punk stuff. And so I just started writing songs, and I just happened to like them and I didn’t wanna give them away. So I kept them.”
