Stryper’s Michael Sweet recently found himself defending his praise of British artist Yungblud after facing accusations of being paid for his endorsement. This occurred according to a post shared on Facebook.

Sweet initially posted positive comments about Yungblud. He expressed his admiration for the young artist’s talent and character.

“I’ve been listening you Yungblud quite a bit lately and I have to say, he really is a talented guy,” Sweet said. “Great singer, great entertainer but most importantly, he seems like a really good and decent dude. So, I’m a fan.”

However, a Stryper fan questioned the authenticity of Sweet’s endorsement. The fan asked how much Yungblud’s public relations team had paid him for the post.

Sweet quickly responded to dismiss the accusation.

“So stupid. Not a penny,” he said. “I don’t know one person in the Yungblud camp.”

The exchange highlights the skepticism some fans have regarding celebrity endorsements in the music industry. This is particularly relevant as Yungblud continues to gain recognition across different musical generations.

Sweet’s praise comes at a time when Yungblud has been making significant waves in the rock music scene. Yungblud’s real name is Dominic Harrison. Noise11 reported that the British artist recently collaborated with legendary rock band Aerosmith on the 2025 EP “One More Time.” The EP reached number one on the Billboard Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart. This collaboration marked Aerosmith’s first new release in over 12 years. It demonstrated Yungblud’s ability to bridge generational gaps in rock music.

The young artist has also been building his reputation through other high-profile collaborations. Paste Magazine noted that Yungblud was featured on Demi Lovato’s track “Freak” from the 2022 album “Holy Fvck.” This showcased his versatility across different rock subgenres. The song notably incorporated elements from Julius Fučík’s “Entry of the Gladiators” in its pre-chorus. This highlighted the creative approach both artists brought to the collaboration.

Yungblud’s rising profile in the industry has been further validated by recent Grammy recognition. AOL revealed that the artist received three 2026 Grammy nominations. These include Best Rock Song for “Zombie,” Best Rock Album for “Idols,” and Best Rock Performance for “Changes at Villa Park.” The nominations represent his first Grammy recognition. They underscore his growing influence in the rock music landscape.

“MY FIRST 3 GRAMMY NOMINATIONS!!! They’ve nominated ‘ZOMBIE’ for best rock song, ‘IDOLS’ for best rock album and ‘CHANGES at Villa Park’ for best rock performance,” Yungblud announced. He expressed his excitement about the milestone achievement.

These accomplishments provide context for why established rock musicians like Sweet might genuinely appreciate Yungblud’s work. This makes the Stryper frontman’s unsolicited praise less surprising to industry observers who have watched the young artist’s rapid ascent in the rock music world.
