Kelly Osbourne recently addressed harsh criticism she faced online about her appearance at the BRIT Awards. She shared her response in a statement posted on Instagram.

The statement focused on the cruelty she experienced during what she describes as the hardest time in her life. She called out those who attacked her appearance and questioned her struggles.

“There is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something,” Osbourne said. “Kicking me while I’m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most.”

She continued to defend herself against the dehumanizing comments she received.

“None of it proves strength; it only reveals a profound absence of compassion and character,” she said. “I’m currently going through the hardest time in my life. I should not even have to defend myself. But I won’t sit here and allow myself to be dehumanized in such a way!”

Steven Tyler’s daughter Mia Tyler also showed her support with her own Instagram post. She defended Osbourne and addressed the broader issue of public scrutiny.

“Public grief is not public property! Grief can change a person. That doesn’t make their body a topic for debate,” Tyler said. “Before you comment on someone’s body, consider the possibility that they’re carrying something heavier than your opinion.”

Tyler praised Osbourne’s strength in handling public appearances while grieving her late iconic father.

“It takes real strength to stand in the public eye, accepting accolades for their late iconic father and hold themselves together in front of the world,” she said. “The least we can do is show the same grace in return.”

She concluded with a call for kindness over cruelty.

“Kindness costs nothing. Cruelty costs character,” Tyler said. “It’s unsettling how quickly people will dissect someone’s appearance instead of honoring their courage. If you have the energy to comment, you have the energy to be kind. Choose accordingly.”

The public support from Tyler comes during a particularly challenging period for the Osbourne family. They are navigating complex personal relationships and ongoing grief.

AOL reported that Sharon Osbourne has admitted she has a “very complex” relationship with her late husband Ozzy’s ex-wife, Thelma Riley, and their children. This family dynamic adds another layer of complexity to Kelly’s current struggles as she deals with public scrutiny while managing personal family matters.

The Osbourne family’s relationships have been under increased public attention following Ozzy’s passing. AOL noted that despite the former couple’s relationship not working out, Sharon said that Riley and Ozzy never had large disagreements when it came to raising their children. This cooperative approach to co-parenting has been part of the family’s efforts to maintain stability despite their complicated history.

Kelly’s emotional response to online criticism reflects the broader challenges faced by celebrity children who must navigate public grief while dealing with family complexities. The support from fellow celebrity offspring like Mia Tyler highlights the unique understanding shared among those who have grown up in the public eye and experienced similar pressures.

The incident underscores the ongoing conversation about online harassment and the impact of social media criticism on individuals during vulnerable periods. Kelly’s decision to speak out against the attacks demonstrates her commitment to addressing cyberbullying while advocating for compassion and understanding during difficult times.
