Steve Vai Gives Bible Reference To Describe His Life

4 Min Read

In 2022, Steve Vai embarked on an extensive world tour, performing 194 shows across 51 countries. Recently, after completing this 19-month journey, he sat down for a chat with ‘The Music Universe’ podcast, sharing insights from both the tour and his career.

The guitarist reflected on the tour, which supported his tenth studio album:

“And I’m feelin’ good. Did this really happen? The ‘Inviolate’ world tour saturated the entire globe. It’s far beyond anything I could have imagined when I was a kid practicing feverishly in my teenage bedroom. Traveling the world like this with my band, crew, and family, touching and tasting all these magnificent cultures, and feeling the powerful energy from the audiences was a transformative experience.”

Using a Bible quote to show gratitude for the experience, he went on:

“I am eternally grateful to all the fans that came out showing their enthusiastic support, and to my band, team Vai crew, and all the promoters. Your efforts, support, and love have made this phenomenal experience a reality. My cup runneth over.”

The Guitarist Moves From One Tour To Another

During his latest ‘Inviolate’ tour, Vai entered new markets he hadn’t performed in before, including cities like Mumbai, Macedonia, and Costa Rica. He stepped foot on every continent in the world except for Antarctica.

The guitarist also started 2024 with another set of shows, hosting his annual Vai Academy from January 2 to 5. The ‘A New Breed Of Virtuosity’ event took place at the Omni Championsgate Resort in Orlando, Florida.

In the upcoming months, more performances will be in line, as Vai is set to join the ‘G3’ tour from January 22 to February 10. Following this, he will collaborate with Joe Satriani for ‘The Satch/Vai Tour’ between March 22-May 12.

Vai And Satriani’s New Shows And Plans

The new 38-show trek will be the two artists’ first time touring together as a duo and follow the release of their first musical collaboration. Speaking of the upcoming dates, Vai shared:

“Touring with Joe is always a pleasure and an honor. He is my favorite guitarist to jam with, and now we have another opportunity to take it to the stage. I feel as though we are both at the top of our game and that the show will be a powerful celebration of the coolest instrument in the world, the electric guitar!”

Meanwhile, Satriani said:

“The Satch/Vai Tour is happening! I’m so looking forward to sharing the stage with Steve again. Every time we play together, it takes me back to when we were teenagers, eating and breathing music every second of the day, pushing, challenging, and helping each other to be the best we could be. I guess we’ve never stopped!”

Steve Vai and Joe Satriani’s musical paths have crossed since their youth in Long Island, New York, where Satriani was Vai’s guitar teacher. The two teamed up for the ‘G3’ tours for nearly 29 years in various locations around the world before announcing a new gig as a duo.
