In a recent interview with Waste Some Time with Jason Green, Stephen Pearcy revealed the details behind Warren DeMartini’s return to Ratt.
“Well, it was instigated… It’s always been going around, you know, like ‘You guys should get together.’ I believe I actually approached Warren a few years ago. I go, ‘Hey, why don’t we try doing this Page – Plant thing or something?’ And nothing became of it,” Pearcy explained when asked how he and DeMartini started talking again after seven years.
“So, I’m like, ‘Hey well, he’s grooving. He’s still that guy. He’s the lead guitar player in Ratt. The guy who co-wrote those songs. He’s the guy,'” he continued. “So I went about my business, as you know, and do my solo thing, and I have great players, but I mean, this is the real deal.”
“So what happened was over seven years later, here we get a a contact from a promoter at M3. And it was like, ‘Well, I had this idea. Maybe we can get you guys back together, and you can headline one of these nights.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay. Yeah, right okay. Let’s see what happens,'” he added.
“So, anyway, long story short, I said, ‘Hey, whatever it takes, I’m in. Let’s see if we can make this happen.’ Well, it just happened to be the right timing for Warren too to go, ‘Hey, why not you know let’s play again.’ And here we are,” Pearcy concluded.
The reunion represents a significant turning point for both musicians. They haven’t shared the stage since 2016.
Loudwire revealed the impressive reunion lineup. The band features former Ratt and Quiet Riot guitarist Carlos Cavazo, former Ratt and Rough Cutt bassist Matt Thorr, and former Slaughter drummer Blas Elias.
Ultimate Classic Rock reported that the reunion will extend beyond a single performance. Pearcy and DeMartini are actively discussing additional shows. They’re also exploring the possibility of writing new music together.
The Pearcy-DeMartini collaboration shaped Ratt’s most memorable hits. Their partnership contributed to the band’s platinum-certified albums from the 1980s.
This reunion offers fans more than just a performance. It marks the rekindling of one of hard rock’s most influential partnerships.
