Sophie Lloyd sat down with Knotfest for an interview and discussed the misogyny in the music industry, particularly her experiences of working with Machine Gun Kelly after his split with Megan Fox.

“It’s just one of those things about being a woman especially when you’re sort of in a male-dominated field as well,” the guitarist said. “I was the one that was that was there and obviously people just make these assumptions. It’s disappointing because it just feels like kind of like a step back of females in the music industry and stuff when things like that happen. We’ve come so far but then there’s still that public perception whether it’s ingrained misogyny I guess in people. That is definitely a difficult cycle to break.”

“People love to like fill in the gaps and assume and like all of this stuff. It’s a funny one, but I got a bunch of followers out of it so can’t be too mad,” she added.

Two years ago, Lloyd faced affair accusations after MGK and Megan Fox broke up. When the news first broke, Lloyd’s management responded with a statement to People, denying the claims. “Any suggestion that she has ever acted in an unprofessional manner or stepped out of her relationship are untrue. It’s disrespectful to her as a female artist and poor journalism and social commentary to be reporting anything else.”

Fox also backed the guitarist, saying, “Sophie, you are insanely talented. Welcome to Hollywood. Your first unwarranted PR disaster.”

A few months after the comments, Lloyd addressed the issue. “It was a crazy time for me to be on the inside of all the media stuff. Obviously, we all know the truth – it was complete bullshit – but it was wild to see this thing spread so fast and how everybody jumped on the bandwagon,” she said.

A source later said Megan Fox admitted making the break up public. Now, Fox doesn’t seem to be interested in revisiting the past.
