Slipknot bassist Alessandro Venturella offered a detailed and candid look at his stage setup in a recent video with Origin Effects — and didn’t shy away from poking fun at one of the band’s most iconic elements: his own ‘stupid mask.’
“Then I go to this guy, I point out all these tops are done by my friend Tobias Kasper,” he explained. “They’re all like resin-impregnated bits that he chopped down from trees that need to be felled and stuff, and then he goes and puts some resin in them.”
“Same again, it’s the same bass,” he continued. “Oh yeah, LEDs as well, ’cause you can’t see any with my stupid mask. There’s another S2, same again, another top.”
His statement emerged during a detailed walkthrough of his stage equipment. He showcased various custom modifications to his instruments.
Research from Equipboard revealed Venturella’s preference for the Status S2-Classic in headless form. His sophisticated setup includes Darkglass gear and Gallien-Kreuger 4×10 cabinets.
Documentation by Grunge highlighted the bassist’s distinctive mask design. It features a corpse-like face with a pentagram on the forehead. The design choice demonstrated respect for the band’s former members by maintaining a more subdued appearance.
A recent feature in PMT Online detailed Venturella’s unique approach to bass playing. He has developed his own style while honoring original bassist Paul Gray’s legacy. His current setup reflects this musical evolution.
