Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has offered a rare update on the band’s long-awaited new album, sharing fresh details in a recent interview.
Speaking about the current state of the recording process, Slash confirmed that the band has been active in the studio. He added that new music is on the way, even if a release date has not yet been set.
“It’s gonna happen. I just don’t know when. It’s getting closer and closer — we were in the studio recently. It’s just a matter of when it happens,” Slash said.
Drawing a comparison to the band’s past, Slash pointed to the creation of the Use Your Illusion albums as a reference for how Guns N’ Roses tends to work.
“It was like that with the Use Your Illusion albums — nothing was going on, and then all of a sudden we just locked in and did it, and everything moves really quickly,” he continued. “That time is coming with Guns pretty soon, so it will happen. I’d be lying.”
No official release date has been announced, but Slash’s comments suggest the band is steadily moving toward completing new material.
The update comes as Guns N’ Roses have already begun laying the groundwork for what could be their most significant musical chapter in nearly two decades.
The band released two new singles, “Nothin'” and “Atlas,” on December 2, 2025. It was their first new music in more than two years. The tracks arrived alongside the announcement of a sweeping 2026 world tour, signaling that the group is actively building momentum both in the studio and on the road.
Slash has been candid about the challenges standing between the band and a finished album. He acknowledged that the group has a wealth of material to work with, but that the main hurdle is finding the discipline to focus and see it through to completion. The album remains in development rather than finished.
Earlier this year, Slash made clear that the next full-length release would not be a collection of reworked or archival tracks. “The next record that we’re gonna do is gonna be all new original stuff,” he stated, drawing a firm line between past singles and what the band is building toward.
A completed studio album would mark Guns N’ Roses’ first since Chinese Democracy in 2008. Since reuniting in 2016, the band has released a handful of standalone singles but has yet to deliver a full-length record from the reunited lineup.
