Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has announced his departure from Twitter/X through a statement on his official account (X).
“I’d like to inform you that I’ve decided to step away from Twitter / X and will no longer be active on the platform,” Slash stated. “This was a considered decision after repeated hacks, and it reflects a shift in how I’d like to stay connected moving forward.”
“You can still find me on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, where I’ll be posting regular updates,” he added.
His X account was hacked last week. This incident prompted his decision to cease activities on the platform.
Slash’s departure highlights the growing cybersecurity concerns among high-profile social media users.
A report from HackRead revealed that Twitter/X recently experienced a massive security breach. The incident involved an alleged data leak affecting 2.87 billion user profiles. This event further exposed the platform’s security vulnerabilities.
The New York Department of Financial Services documented the platform’s history of security issues. A notable incident occurred in 2020 when attackers used sophisticated social engineering tactics to compromise numerous high-profile accounts.
These recurring security breaches have prompted many celebrities and public figures to reevaluate their social media presence. Some have opted to limit their activity to platforms with enhanced security measures.
The guitarist now focuses on other social platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. This shift represents a strategic approach by music artists to manage their online presence amid evolving security threats.
