Sharon Osbourne recently shared her thoughts on the current state of talent in the entertainment industry. She expressed her frustration with performers who lack originality and individuality in a new interview with Billboard.
During the interview, Osbourne discussed her approach to discovering new talent and what she looks for in potential artists.
“I’ll troll all night, and I’ll reach out to people I think are talented,” she said. “I’m not interested in little girls in leotards throwing themselves around and humping the floor — some of them are really talented, but it’s not original.”
Osbourne emphasized the importance of having a unique identity in the entertainment industry.
“You have to have that sense of individuality, because otherwise you’re just a clone,” she continued. “Are you going to be an icon? Are you going to last the test of time? If you want to be a serious artist, who are you? It’s so easy to market yourself these days.”
She also offered advice for aspiring artists looking to stand out in today’s market.
“Come out with a great little video — do it yourself at home, but be different,” she said. “Don’t follow. You’ve got to be a leader. You’ve got to have your own look, your own sound. Your voice has to be instantly recognizable.”
Osbourne revealed that while she wouldn’t return to management, she remains passionate about discovering new talent. She continues to attend live performances while searching the internet for promising artists.
Osbourne’s commitment to nurturing new talent extends beyond her current scouting efforts. She has announced ambitious plans to honor her late husband’s legacy while providing platforms for emerging artists.
Parade reported that Sharon Osbourne plans to revive Ozzfest as early as 2027 in partnership with Live Nation Entertainment. The festival revival represents a significant shift from its traditional heavy metal focus. The new iteration will mix genres to feature both legendary artists and emerging talent.
“It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people,” Osbourne explained. She highlighted how the festival’s mission aligns with her current focus on discovering authentic artists.
The original Ozzfest ran from 1996 to 2018 and became one of the most influential metal festivals in music history. Wikipedia noted that Sharon Osbourne has been in negotiations with Live Nation Entertainment regarding the festival’s return. This marks a potential comeback for the iconic event that helped launch numerous metal careers.
Beyond the festival revival, Osbourne’s recent activities have drawn both support and controversy. AOL revealed that she has faced criticism from fans and addiction recovery advocates for her plans to launch a branded line of alcohol in memory of Ozzy, who passed away in July 2025.
The planned Ozzfest revival and her continued talent scouting efforts demonstrate Osbourne’s determination to maintain her influence in the music industry. She aims to honor her husband’s legacy of supporting emerging artists who possess the originality and authenticity she values.
