Sharon Osbourne recently revealed plans for the return of Ozzfest. She confirmed that the traveling festival will make its comeback in 2027, as discussed in an interview featured on RIFFX.

The announcement addresses the future of the iconic metal festival and Sharon’s conversations with Ozzy Osbourne about continuing the event.

“Yes, absolutely. Yeah, we’re gonna do it,” Sharon Osbourne said. “Well, the last one we did was 2018. It was just a month before Ozzy got sick, and that was at the Forum in L.A. And there was no plans to stop it. We were still gonna do it, but Ozzy couldn’t.”

She continued discussing her conversations with Ozzy about the festival’s future.

“And Ozzy and I would talk about it, and he’d say, ‘Do you think Ozzfest would work without me?’ And I’m, like, ‘Yeah, it’s a brand. It will work without you.’ And he said, ‘We should do it,'” she revealed.

The confirmation comes after the festival’s hiatus since 2018. Plans are now set for its return in 2027.

Sharon’s announcement follows months of speculation and social media hints that had fans wondering about the festival’s future. The revival marks a significant moment for the metal community. Ozzfest has been one of the most influential touring festivals in heavy music history.

Metal Injection reported that this will mark the first new edition of the influential festival since its last run in 2018. The festival’s return represents a major comeback for what has been considered one of the defining events in metal music culture.

Loudwire noted that the festival’s official social media accounts had been teasing a potential return. They posted questions about a 2027 comeback that generated significant buzz among metal fans. These social media hints preceded Sharon’s official confirmation by several weeks.

The festival’s hiatus was directly linked to Ozzy’s health challenges. Loaded Radio indicated that Sharon has emphasized that Ozzfest is a brand that can function without Ozzy headlining. Specific lineup details have not yet been announced. This approach suggests the 2027 edition may feature a different headlining structure than previous years.

The announcement has already generated significant excitement within the metal community. Ozzfest has historically served as a launching pad for emerging metal acts while also featuring established headliners. The 2027 return promises to continue this tradition of showcasing both veteran and up-and-coming artists in the heavy music scene.
