Appearing as a guest on VRP Rocks, Saxon drummer Nigel Glockler shared his firsthand experiences from touring alongside iconic acts such as Ozzy Osbourne, Motörhead, and Mötley Crüe. During the interview, the drummer recalled touring with Mötley Crüe and shared the story of beating Nikki Sixx in a punching competition.
Recalling the moment, he said:
“I got on great with Nikki, actually. Me and Nikki ended up having an arm-punching competition, I think he started it actually. You know you punch the same [place] and who can take it [wins,] and I beat him. I won. I think it was one morning in the hotel, I went down, I said, ‘Come on man, where is it?’ He went, ‘No, no, I can’t take it anymore.’ So I got him. But yeah I got on with him the best.”
How Glockler Thinks Touring With Mötley Crüe Was

40 years ago, Saxon embarked on a US tour with Accept as their special guest. Additionally, they supported Mötley Crüe for certain shows during a yearlong tour. When asked about the 40-year-old tour and his experiences of touring with Mötley, the drummer shared his excitement with the following:
“They were great. Nice guys. I got on great with Nikki Sixx. You hardly ever saw Mick Mars; didn’t see him apart from the gig a lot [of the time]. Obviously, they were doing a lot of partying, and sometimes we were seeing the Polaroids from the night before.”
