Rock musician Sammy Hagar faced criticism after sharing a video with his daughter Samantha. This prompted him to defend the family post in a statement on Instagram.
The controversy began when Hagar posted a video showing his daughter’s sunburn. He included the caption: “Like father like daughter. She wasn’t named Samantha for nothing. We both love the sun.”
Several fans expressed disapproval in the comments section. “So inappropriate for a father. Disappointed,” one fan commented. Another fan said: “I would never ever post something like that about my daughter. Not cool.”
Hagar issued a detailed statement defending his post in response to the criticism.
“I wanna say I’ve never seen so many disturbed, unconscious people comment on anything I’ve ever posted,” Hagar said. “This is my daughter Samantha. I love her dearly. My wife Kari took the picture. My daughter came up. Was laughing while we did it. We all came off the beach sunburnt but she got the worst of it.”
The musician concluded his response by emphasizing his intention behind the post.
“This is a beautiful family post. Please don’t take it wrong,” he continued. “If you do, you probably shouldn’t be following me. Because you don’t get it.”
The incident highlights ongoing discussions about appropriate social media content involving family members.
