With over 50 years of stage presence, Sammy Hagar has probably reached all the checkpoints he’s drawn in his head until now. Revealing that success is an addiction for him in a recent interview with Fox News, the singer also shared his ultimate goal.
“I’ve had so many dreams that I never dreamt come true,” the musician said, noting how his life offered some surprises. “Of course, all I really dreamt about was someday being a rock star, rich, a famous guy, and being able to take care of my mother and my family well, have a beautiful home, beautiful cars. That was it. A gold record, maybe on the wall.”
Hagar continued, “It just keeps coming, and it keeps coming, and every door that opens just opens up a whole another door and another door, and it’s contagious. Success is contagious. It’s what I’m addicted to. I make jokes about it all the time. It’s like, ‘How much money do you need?’ No, I don’t need any money. No, I’m all good. I just need more of that. I need to have an idea, see it come true and see another dream come true. And I live my dreams.”
And, whatever happened, he just kept going. The rocker said, “When a dream comes true, my philosophy is you keep that dream, you live that dream, you can dream another one. But you don’t just throw that dream to the side and say, ‘Oh, what’s next?’ No, you just keep adding it to your life. And what’s there not to be happy about? Everybody says, ‘Why are you always so happy?’ Because I’m happy. I’m very happy with what has happened.”
Fox Nation and TMZ collaborate on ‘Sammy Hagar’s Paradise’ to provide viewers unique access to Hagar’s 75th birthday party and showcase his career as a musician and entrepreneur. The show covers Hagar’s early life, which included living in poverty, having an abusive father, and more. It is available for streaming on Fox Nation, and this interview was part of its promotion.
A fairly prolific musician, Hagar most recently released ‘Crazy Times’ with his supergroup, the Circle. So many notable names contributed to the album, proving its quality without listening to any songs. The personnel list includes Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham, and guitar virtuoso Vic Johnson. You can guess what will come.
