Sammy Hagar Says He Tried To Jam With Keith Richards And Jimmy Page But Never Worked Out

Former Van Halen lead singer Sammy Hagar recently revealed the musicians he desires to perform with at his nightclub Cabo Wabo during a recent interview with Ultimate Classic Rock. Apparently, the musician wanted to jam with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and the Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards the most, however, never got the opportunity.

As some of you might know, in addition to this successful music career Sammy Hagar owns a famous nightclub and restaurant named ‘Cabo Wabo’ located in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The bar became popular with both locals and tourists with its mostly rock music selection and now is a famous location to perform among many musicians.

The Red Rocker previously hosted his annual Birthday Bash in Cabo Wabo with numerous other rockers, however, last year he moved the location to the shores of Catalina Island, CA. The event that took place on October 17, 2020, was different than usual due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, still included Hagar’s band, The Circle, as well as other artists such as REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin and Rick Springfield.

Now that Cabo Wabo has been known for its guest musicians over the years, the former Van Halen frontman was asked about the artists he would like to jam with but never did in the past. Apparently, Sammy Hagar has a long list of legendary rockers such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Bruce Springsteen all of which would be thrilling to watch on stage with Hagar himself.

In addition to those musicians, Sammy Hagar revealed that he would want to perform with Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards the most as well as Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. While revealing those names, Hagar expressed his enthusiasm for future performance by stating that he knows every single song of these bands and wouldn’t need a teleprompter throughout their show.

During the interview with UCR, Hagar said:

“Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bruce Springsteen. I guess that’s enough for now, right? I really want Keith. If there’s one guy, it would have to be Keith, and we’d just play the Stones all night. If Jimmy came, we’ll play Led Zeppelin all night. I know every one of them fuckin’ songs. Are you kidding me? No teleprompter is necessary. But I ain’t sayin’ those guys are coming. The truth of the matter is, 75 percent of the people that show for my Birthday Bash, I don’t know they’re coming. Nobody tells me. I hear rumors all of the time.”

Although The Circle frontman only revealed these musicians’ names as a wish rather than an invitation, fans would love to see a collaboration on stage including Sammy Hagar and the Stones with the band’s classic tracks. In addition to this, the fusion of Hagar’s voice and Led Zeppelin tracks on top of Jimmy Page’s brilliant guitar playing would be the cherry on top and even the thought of these possibilities excites his fans.
