Sammy Hagar Confirms He Has No Plans To Retire Any Time Soon

The Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar, recently spoke about his retirement plans during the KTLA 5 Morning News appearance. Even after accomplishing so much, both as a solo artist and as a band member, Hagar revealed that he is not going off the music scene anytime soon thanks to his never-ending ideas and motivation to do projects.

Sammy Hagar has been on the rock and roll scene for half a decade since he started his music career in 1972. The vocalist has influenced many other musicians with his voice and energetic stage performances. He never stopped performing and creating throughout his long career as he always kept himself involved with music even if he ventured off to other businesses.

He kickstarted his career with Montrose and then established a solo career before joining Van Halen after their vocalist David Lee Roth’s departure. Hagar was the vocalist of Van Halen from 1985 to 1996 until he left the band due to the differences he had with the band. The singer then released his tequila brand and opened a restaurant/bar in Cabo, Mexico. Even while working in that business, the rocker kept performing at his bar, which combined his primary and second careers.

Hagar is now 74 years old, which is an age where most musicians retire and enjoy the commercial success they have earned throughout their careers. However, he is not one of those musicians to sit back and retire regardless of his age and success. As Sammy revealed during a recent interview, he likes to stay busy, unlike many other rockers of his generation who prefer playing golf.

The musician also revealed that his wife, who knows him the most, agrees with him. Sammy Hagar stated that he could not retire because whenever he is not doing anything, a new business idea pops up in his head, so he needs to make it come true. It appears that his unstoppable energy of creating new projects and the satisfaction he gets from completing those projects is the power behind his long-term music career.

Sammy Hagar’s words about retiring at his age read:

“When you’re busy, you don’t have time to sit around and get bored and get old. Everybody I know has retired. Believe me; all my friends are retired. They seem to get old when they retire. Just playing gold every hour, I don’t even play golf. I don’t have time to play golf. I’m either playing music or working on Sammy’s beat for a cocktail company. I’m going down my Cabo Wabo and playing in the cantina. I just stay busy.

My wife knows. She knows better than to ask me to stop working because when I’m sitting around doing nothing, I get new ideas. When I get a new idea, I can’t help myself. I’m one of those people that’s all about doing it. I don’t care once it’s big; it explodes and sells for millions of dollars. That is not the goal for me. The goal is working it and seeing it built. Then when you get there, it feels so good that you go, ‘I’m going to start another project.'”
