The clarification came after Hagar shared a video of his acoustic performance during a Super Bowl watch party at his house. His comment about Bad Bunny sparked concerning messages from fans.

A fan expressed concern about the comment, and said, “I’m conflicted on what you mean here …. I’m hoping it’s nothing but love for the Latin community in our great nation, and abroad.” Hagar responded directly to address the worries.

“100% love for the Latin community. Are you kidding me? I live in Mexico I love Puerto Rico,” he responded. “I love the islands and Bad Bunny can throw one bad ass party just having fun with my friends.”

Hagar also praised Bad Bunny’s halftime performance when another fan commented positively about the show.

“I agree that was a fun fricking halftime,” he said. “The dude knows how to throw a party.”

This incident highlights Hagar’s ongoing commitment to celebrating diverse musical talents. It also shows his appreciation for cross-cultural collaborations in the music industry.

The former Van Halen frontman has a long history of working with artists from various backgrounds and genres. American Songwriter reported that in 2016, Hagar joined forces with Nancy Wilson of Heart and Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains for a powerful cover of “Brother.” This demonstrated his willingness to collaborate across rock subgenres.

Hagar’s appreciation for diverse musical styles extends beyond his recording work. His television series Rock and Roll Road Trip on AXS TV has featured him hosting legendary musicians for interviews and jam sessions. This showcases his genuine enthusiasm for connecting with artists from different musical backgrounds.

The rocker’s comments about living in Mexico and loving Puerto Rico reflect his deep connection to Latin American culture. This connection has influenced his personal life and musical perspective. This cultural appreciation has been evident throughout his career. He has consistently embraced opportunities to work with musicians from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Hagar’s quick response to fan concerns demonstrates his awareness of the importance of cultural sensitivity in today’s music landscape. This is particularly relevant when discussing artists from underrepresented communities like Bad Bunny, who has become a global ambassador for Latin music.
