Rush Pays Tribute To Late Drummer Neil Peart With An Onstage Memory
Rush posted a photo of Neil Peart on their official Instagram account and celebrated their late bandmate’s birthday by recalling how much the band loved to make him laugh.
Rush’s drummer Neil Peart died from an aggressive form of brain cancer in 2020, three years after he was diagnosed. He left his fans and bandmates in such a sense of grief that they couldn’t get used to his death. Following Peart’s death, Rush disbanded in 2018 and shut down the possibility of a reunion as they didn’t want to continue without him.
The band still honors Neil Peart’s legacy as they continue sharing his photos and videos on their Instagram account. September 12 was Peart’s birthday, and Rush celebrated it by sharing a photo on Instagram. In the photo, Peart was warmly smiling at his bandmates, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson. The band said in the post that they loved to make him laugh.
Rush’s Instagram post read:
“Happy Birthday Pratt! We loved to make you laugh!”
In the comments section, the fans also commented about how talented Peart was, and how tragic it is to lose someone. They then wished him a heavenly happy birthday and stated they miss Neil’ infectious laugh.
One of the fans’ comments read:
“Happy Heavenly Birthday Neil!”
Another fan then commented:
“Happy birthday Neil! You were such a huge part of my childhood! We miss you.“
One of the fans also appreciated his talents by stating:
“I just put on ‘A Farewell To Kings.’ Such masterful drumming.”
