Ronnie Romero discussed Rainbow’s future in a recent interview with Metal Express Radio.

“I don’t think that [writing songs with Ritchie Blackmore] going to happen again because he is in a different path right now,” Romero said. “He is playing with Blackmore’s Night.”

“I don’t think any other Rainbow show is going to happen,” he continued. “Obviously because of his health and his age. I don’t see him moving out of his comfort zone.”

Rainbow remains in hiatus. Blackmore has shifted his focus to his medieval folk-rock project, Blackmore’s Night.

Recent developments in the guitarist’s career support Romero’s concerns about Blackmore’s health.

Blabbermouth reported that Blackmore underwent surgery for uric acid buildup in his finger joint. The guitarist also continues to manage ongoing arthritis issues.

Guitar World revealed that the legendary guitarist has reduced his performance schedule. This decision helps him preserve energy for shows, confirming Romero’s observations about Blackmore’s current priorities.

A recent event highlighted Blackmore’s enduring legacy. Loudwire noted that his hometown denied a blue plaque request because he was still alive. The city later honored him with a different commemorative plaque.

These developments align with Romero’s assessment of Rainbow’s uncertain future.
