Roger Stevens revealed whether or not he would ever play with Blind Melon again. In the interview with Ultimate Guitar, Stevens talked about his new project, Towne & Stevens.
With the hit of the pandemic, Blind Melon had to put a stop to their work on the album, which was later released as pieces of tracks rather than a whole album. Since then, the band hasn’t played live shows. When asked about the current situation of the band and whether or not they would play live, Stevens shared:
“The pandemic sort of threw everybody for a loop. But we can’t blame that anymore. So I don’t really know. We’re kind of in those discussions now, seeing where everybody’s heads at. I mean, honestly, I’m making another record now [with Towne & Stevens], and I really don’t know. I’ll always play shows – if Blind Melon wants to play shows.”
Although Stevens doesn’t seem to be disagreeing with playing live again, he gives a different meaning to playing live:
“But for me, my number one focus is recording new songs. That’s the only reason I do this, really. I mean, I like playing live shows as, like, sort of a fringe benefit of that process, but there’s no reason for me to do this unless I’m making something new.”
The band revealed the reason for their single releases rather than a whole album at once to remind the fans that they ‘exist’ in a couple of months rather than every two years.
Since the pandemic, Blind Melon has released music for a year in every two months, with their latest song being ‘Strikes Back.’ Now Stevens has been working on new music with Nathan Towne in his latest project. Below, you can listen to the latest Towne & Stevens album.
