Roger Waters recently detailed the peace plan he had developed to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict ‘for once and all.’ The Pink Floyd rocker opened up about the four-point plan in a YouTube video, saying:
“Here’s my suggestion of what should be done. It’s only an opinion, [but], this is what should be done. One: there must be an immediate and permanent ceasefire. No killing by anyone. Hamas and the IDF [Israel Defense Forces] included. So, what next? How to prevent future bloodshed.”
He further continued by revealing the second step of his four-point plan:
“Two: get round a big table and hammer out the bones of a one-state solution to this whole unholy mess. One based on equal human rights under international laws. A new state with equal human rights for all its citizens, irrespective of their ethnicity, or religion, or previous nationality. This new state would be, and I’ve written this in italics, an actual real democracy.”
Waters then added and opened up about what the ‘one-state’ government should do after taking the first two steps of his plan:
“Three: my suspicion is that this new state’s constitution would need provision for truth and reconciliation hearings, like, they had in post-apartheid South Africa.”
The bassist also mentioned Israel’s positioning in the Golan Heights region in Syria, saying:
“Four: A side issue. Obviously, the Golan Heights are not any part of this. They are a part of Syria where they belong… So, that’s the dream.”
