A ‘viral infection’ is never good, especially when, as an artist, you have to cancel a show last minute. Sir Rod Stewart had to cancel ‘A Day on the Green’ in Australia because his throat was too irritated to sing; he even took to Twitter to apologize to his fans for the disappointment.
The 78-year-old was scheduled to take center stage at the ‘A Day on the Green’ festival alongside Cyndi Lauper and John Stevens; however, his current health condition with the ‘viral infection’ has caused that British singer to back out of the lineup with advice from doctors.
The musician shared a special message to his fans on Twitter that he was heartbroken that he couldn’t perform for them and sent out his apology to ticket holders for disappointing them as they won’t get the experience of the show. However, he would do everything he could to get better and be back on stage.
Rod Stewart’s words about canceling his show read:
“Hello, my friends. I’m absolutely downhearted that I’m disappointing my fans who bought tickets to ‘A Day On The Green.’ Late this morning, I was advised that I have a viral infection, and my throat is too irritated to sing. I am only human and sometimes get sick just like you do. My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything I can to get on the mend and back on stage!”
The rocker has a few dates lineup, including a performance at the AEC Arena in Adelaide on Tuesday before doing five more Australian dates, which include stops in Mt Cotton and Sydney. He won’t stop there as he will move on to New Zealand, Mexico, the US, Ireland, the UK, and Spain between April and September. Hopefully, this will be the last drawback for the singer as he has many eager fans waiting to see him live.
