The Black Crows founder Rich Robinson shared the experience of attending his first Metallica concert last year, who opened for AC/DC.
In a recent interview with Loudwire Nights, the musician looked back on his first show and shifted the discussion towards describing the experience of witnessing Metallica as they took the stage. As it appears, he was worried AC/DC would not be able to perform after Metallica’s ‘amazing’ show. He said:
“I’d never seen Metallica before. I went out there and I’d never seen an audience respond that way to a band. It was one of the most amazing, heavy things I’ve ever seen, to the point where I was kind of worried about AC/DC. I was like, ‘How the f*ck is anyone going to go [after this]?'”
Well, how was the experience? The musician continued:
“They opened with ‘Thunderstruck’ and I’ve never seen or felt anything like it since then… I’ve never seen a transition from Metallica, where every person in that audience was so into Metallica, and then Angus — their spotlight opens up, all the lights go down. Angus is doing the intro to ‘Thunderstruck’ and it’s one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.”
AC/DC Shaped Robinson’s Sound

As he said during the recent interview, the musician witnessed an ‘amazing’ moment at the Power Trip festival. In addition to his experience, the guitarist has been highly inspired by the AC/DC rockers, but two certain members inspired him the most, and even helped shape his sound. In an earlier conversation, he stated:
“When Angus and Malcolm would play together, they sounded so powerful but not overdriven. They’re like the quintessential sound of rock ‘n’ roll. It’s just straight-ahead, organic playing, and so warm-sounding. Angus’s leads were loud but never felt harsh or overprocessed, and Malcolm’s rhythms were like no other. So, they’ve always influenced me, and the interplay between Malcolm and Angus is nothing short of a gift. There’s no other way to describe it other than a gift. Those two made up one of the most unbelievable duos in rock history.”
