Red Hot Chili Peppers bass guitarist Flea took his official Instagram account to share a new post and revealed his feelings about the passing of poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti.

Lawrence was an American poet and author who is known for his first collection of poems, A Coney Island of the Mind. Unfortunately, he passed away at the age of 101 two days ago due to interstitial lung disease.

In the post, Flea wanted to pay his tribute to the legendary poet by sharing Lawrence’s pictures and sharing his thoughts about him as he thanked everything he has done for the world.

Furthermore, Flea stated that he wanted to honor by reading his piece of artwork and showed how a great artist he was. Also, he didn’t forget to pray for his soul by wishing that he could be closer to the magic he nurtured.

Here is what Flea said:

“Thank you for all of it Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Every time I walked into City Lights I tread on hallowed ground.

The boxes of books I always walked out with made me feel whole, cause I could read em of course, but mostly cause I could honor you, be closer to the magic you nurtured.”
