REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin recently shared a message on the band’s official website, where he appreciated Dolly Parton for making him trendy once more.

After talking about how his twin sons, Josh and Shane, make music, the singer went on to say:

“I got home from the tour just in time to help my son, our final to fly the nest, as he moved the furniture into his new apartment. Our full U-Haul van hit the 101 freeway at 5:15 PM, so we had plenty of time to listen to the Dolly Parton ‘Rockstar’ album.”

Cronin’s Praise For Parton’s ‘Rockstar’ Album

Cronin shared his thoughts on Parton’s new record, explaining:

“Lots of great music on this collection, and everyone seems to like the sound of Dolly and me singing ‘Keep on Loving You’ together. The last time my whole family thought I was cool was in 2020 when Season Three of ‘Ozark’ dropped. This duet with Dolly gave me a much-needed boost in cred!”

The rocker then explained that they managed to fit into Josh’s Jeep was a very heavy, old-style office desk. To move this desk, they used a 28-year-old blue dolly that Kevin bought long ago on his first visit to Costco. He mentioned how crucial the dolly and Dolly in a joking way:

“We could not have done it without Dolly and the dolly, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share an unforgettable bonding experience with my son. Happy belated Thanksgiving everybody.”

The Making Of ‘Keep On Loving You’ Duet With Parton

The ‘Keep on Loving You’ duet took shape months ago, in February 2023, when Cronin received a call from Parton. Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment at the time, the singer admitted that he made himself seem like the better person when he wrote the song. He wrote this rock song after finding out his first wife was unfaithful before their marriage. After saying that the real message of the song both people can be at fault in a relationship, he added:

“So, it gave me the idea that Dolly could sing the first verse, and in the first verse, I’m cheating on her. But then I take the second verseand in the second verseI go, ‘Oh yeah? Well, I know all about those men, And so now, the song becomes this kind of dark duet — until it gets to the chorus, where they go, ‘I meant every word I said.'”

Parton’s ‘Rockstar’ finally met the audience on November 17. Besides Cronin, other guest appearances included Steve Perry, Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus, Rob Halford, and others.
