Rage Against The Machine dropped a new picture on Instagram, but one thing seems to be missing: The frontman.

On January 18, the band uploaded a picture on their Instagram featuring a black silhouette of them performing against a red background, accompanied by the song ‘Wake Up.’ Shortly after, the drummer Brad Wilk posted the same photo on his personal page with the words:

“What he said…”

Some fans commented, saying that they didn’t spot Zack de la Rocha in the picture and wondered if there was any significance to his absence.

A user thought the singer was not in the picture. Wilk clarified he, in fact, was in the picture:

“Look for the [microphone emoji] and cord.”

The Discussion Continued Even On Different Platforms

The picture caused so much confusion among fans that it ultimately switched to different platforms to discuss more thoroughly.

One user on Reddit shared the recent picture with the words:

“The band is being cryptic again.”

The Reddit post got many comments on where the frontman was. While most of the fans wondered where La Rocha was, a few spotted his hand up holding a mic.

Some also commented on the caption of the original photo:

“Why did he write ‘what he said…’? Who’s ‘he?’ Also curious [about] the previous post by Brad, ‘Destination unknown.'”

Touring Days Have Ended For RATM

Rage, established in the early 1990s, has experienced disbandment in the past. Despite rapidly gaining fame, internal conflicts arose. In 2000, de la Rocha declared his departure, and subsequently, the remaining members formed Audioslave with Chris Cornell, which lasted until 2007.

In 2007, the band reunited for a headline performance at Coachella and embarked on several tours, concluding with their final show at L.A Rising in 2011. This marked their second separation. However, the band wasn’t finished. In 2020, they announced the Public Service Announcement tour, signaling a determined comeback.

More recently, the band revealed that they would no longer perform live. Sharing the statement at the beginning of this year, they expressed to fans eagerly anticipating new shows that there would be no further performances, marking a complete halt to their live performances.

So, although Rage has not disbanded, who knows what will come next?
