Radiohead has announced their return to live performances after a seven-year hiatus. The band confirmed European tour dates for late 2025, according to an official announcement shared on Instagram.
The band’s statement revealed their plans for upcoming shows across Europe. Drummer Philip Selway provided insight into the band’s decision to return to touring.
“Last year, we got together to rehearse, just for the hell of it,” Selway said. “After a seven year pause, it felt really good to play the songs again and reconnect with a musical identity that has become lodged deep inside all five of us.”
The drummer explained how the rehearsal sessions led to their touring decision.
“It also made us want to play some shows together, so we hope you can make it to one of the upcoming dates,” he continued. “For now, it will just be these ones but who knows where this will all lead.”
The official announcement confirmed that Radiohead will perform shows across Europe in November and December 2025. This marks their first tour dates since 2018.
The band’s return comes after years of uncertainty about their future as a collective. Individual members pursued various creative projects during their extended break that kept them musically active.
Ultimate Classic Rock reported that Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood have released two albums with their side project the Smile. Guitarist Ed O’Brien released his debut solo album, Earth, in 2020. These projects allowed the musicians to explore different creative directions while maintaining their artistic momentum.
The uncertainty surrounding Radiohead’s future was evident in O’Brien’s candid 2022 interview comments. “It might happen, but the other thing is … it might not. And does that matter? … We love one another. We’re brothers. We probably will play together. It could be that it doesn’t happen. I’m sure it will do,” he said, reflecting the band’s relaxed approach to their collective future.
Ultimate Classic Rock confirmed that the tour dates include multiple shows in Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen, and Berlin scheduled between November 4 and December 12, 2025. The band maintains their long-standing lineup with Wikipedia noting that Thom Yorke continues on vocals and keys. Jonny and Colin Greenwood remain on guitars and bass respectively, Ed O’Brien on guitar, and Philip Selway on drums.
The announcement marks a significant moment for fans who have waited seven years since the band’s last tour cycle. It suggests that Radiohead’s musical identity remains as strong as ever despite their extended hiatus.
