Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan recently discussed the band’s ongoing search for a new frontman. He confirmed they have identified potential candidates but are taking their time with the decision, as reported by Chaoszine.

Bolan addressed the current status of the band’s singer search and their approach to finding the right fit for the group.

“We’re pretty focused in on a couple of guys. We haven’t made a decision yet. We’re taking our time,” Bolan said. “We’re taking our time, because we have the luxury of doing that right now. We don’t have to rush. We don’t have any tours planned. We don’t have anything like that.”

The remaining band members are staying productive with songwriting sessions while the search continues.

“So in the meantime, [Skid Row guitarist] Snake [Dave Sabo] and I have been getting together and writing. Scotti [Hill, Skid Row guitarist] and I have been writing. And we’re just doing that,” he continued.

The bassist emphasized that the band is preparing for when they do find their new vocalist.

“We’re doing that, prepping for if we find a singer tomorrow, we could go into the studio or we could start rehearsing. But, yeah, we got some guys on our radar, but like I said, not making any rushed decisions,” Bolan concluded.

The band’s careful approach comes after nearly two years of searching for a permanent vocalist following significant changes in their lineup.

Parade reported that Erik Grönwall, the band’s most recent singer from H.E.A.T., officially exited the band in March 2024. His departure was amicable and rooted in health concerns following his 2021 leukemia diagnosis. This marked nearly two years without a permanent vocalist for the legendary metal group.

The band has been methodical in their search process. They are working with industry professionals to find the right fit. WDHAFM noted that Skid Row is working with producer Nick Raskulinecz, known for his work with Foo Fighters and Rush, along with their management team to audition candidates. They are prioritizing chemistry and fit over rushing into a decision.

The extended search reflects the band’s commitment to finding someone who can carry on their legacy while bringing fresh energy to the group. WRIF confirmed that the 38-year-old Grönwall’s health troubles tied to his leukemia fight were the primary reason for his departure. This left the band to carefully evaluate their next move.

The band remains without scheduled tours or immediate commitments. This allows them the flexibility to make a careful choice for their next chapter while continuing to create new material in preparation for their eventual return to the stage.
