A local politician has called for Marilyn Manson to be removed from Slipknot’s London show, as reported by MyLondon.
Councillor Anton Georgiou, leader of the Liberal Democrat Group at Brent Council, raised concerns about the booking in light of allegations against the musician. The councillor said the venue should explain what consideration was given to these allegations before confirming the show.
“We cannot keep saying that tackling violence against women and girls is everyone’s business and then fail to ask difficult questions when it really matters. It’s disappointing that the council has not spoken out publicly about this,” Georgiou said.
“The allegations against Marilyn Manson are serious, and while he denies wrongdoing, Wembley Stadium needs to explain what consideration was given to them before this booking was confirmed. It also needs to consider the message this sends to survivors of abuse.”
Brent Council responded with a statement on the matter. “Decisions about who performs at Wembley Stadium are ultimately a matter for the venue and event organisers, rather than Brent Council, which has no direct control over commercial bookings,” a spokesman said.
“That does not diminish our commitment to tackling violence against women and girls, which has no place in Brent. We are crystal clear about our values, and that is why we devote significant time, resources and effort to preventing abuse, supporting survivors and making our borough safer.”
The comments come as Slipknot prepares for the show at Wembley Stadium next July with Marilyn Manson as part of the lineup.
The allegations against Manson date back to February 2021, when actress Evan Rachel Wood named him as her alleged abuser. At least four other women came forward with similar accusations after her statement, and his record label Loma Vista Recordings dropped him in response. Manson has repeatedly denied all allegations and maintained that his sexual relationships were consensual.
Slipknot announced their 2027 worldwide stadium tour on 28 September, with the Wembley Stadium show set for Saturday 3 July 2027. The London date will also feature Lorna Shore and Hatebreed. The announcement drew backlash from some fans over Marilyn Manson’s inclusion as a support act on select dates of the tour.
Manson is currently scheduled to stand trial in November 2027 as part of a sexual assault and battery lawsuit brought by his former assistant, Ashley Walters. His performances on Slipknot’s tour will be among his most prominent public appearances since the 2020 allegations emerged.
