Philip Selway Hints At A Radiohead Reunion

Drummer Phil Selway has once again hinted at a potential reunion for Radiohead after a prolonged hiatus. During a recent livestream with the Crow Hill Company on November 24, Selway indicated that the band is approaching a point where they are prepared to come together once again. The statement comes after a series of speculations and updates about the band’s future, with Selway’s remarks adding fuel to the anticipation of fans eager to see Radiohead back in action. He said:

“We’ve actually had a little break for a minute; the last show that we did was back in 2018,” he said. “But we’re coming back ’round to that point now. There is just something particular to that relationship — that creative relationship and personal relationship — actually, you can’t get anywhere else.”

He continued by sharing their current viewpoint on the band:

“We’re all coming back around to that point now of thinking, ‘Right, we’ve had a break — this is it. This feels like something to dive back into and really explore and see what other directions it can take us in.'”

Philip Selway And His Recurring Cues Of Radiohead Reunion

Philip Selway has been speaking to various sources about Radiohead’s return. In an interview with NME earlier this year, he also spoke about the return of Radiohead. He said:

“We wouldn’t know anything on that score until we’re all in a room together, and it probably doesn’t have any firm direction until we’re quite a way into it. It’s just about finding that scenario when a group of musicians are all of a mind and firing on all cylinders. That is my dream scenario – to be in that spot. That’s my only aspiration.”

In an interview with Spin back in January, Selway again gave an update on the band’s current situation. At the time, there was a lot of speculation about the future of Radiohead because Thom Yorke and Johny Greenwood were making music separately. About Radiohead’s situation, Selway said:

“As far as I know, we’re still a band. If anybody knows any different, I’d be very interested.”

Ed O’Brien Was Not As Optimistic As Selway In 2022

Guitarist Ed O’Brien was not sure about the future of Radiohead back in 2022. He had spoken about a possible reunion in an interview with NME in 2022. On the possibility of a comeback, he said:

“It might happen, but the other thing is… it might not. And does that matter?”

He emphasized the differences of opinion among the band members. He continued:

“The thing with Radiohead, we could do something in a couple years. We might not. But I think what it has to be, it has to be five people going, ‘I really want to do this again with you.’ And I think at the moment, because we’ve done it for so long, we’re all reaching out and having different experiences. And that should be allowed, and that should be encouraged.”

Over the last year there have been changing views among the band members about the future of Radiohead.
