The rocker, animal advocate, and PETA supporter Joan Jett recently called out to SeaWorld to end the sordid breeding program they used on dolphins during their annual meeting.

SeaWorld is a theme park with marine mammal parks and oceanariums in Florida. The parks involve marine animals like orcas, dolphins, and sea lions. The marine park, which received many visitors, has received numerous reactions since the ‘Blackfish‘ documentary was released in 2013.

Gabriela Cowperthwaite directed the documentary after an orca from the park killed one of the trainers in SeaWorld. The movie pointed out the harmful consequences of captivating orcas. Since this movie, there has been a considerable decrease in attendance at the park.

Many significant names like Heart’s Nancy Wilson reacted to the theme park after the documentary. They canceled their upcoming performances at SeaWorld in 2013. Joan Jett has been among the people who responded to SeaWorld’s captivating animals. In previous years, she did not permit the park to use her ‘I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll‘ as an opening song.

As Billboard reported, the vocalist recently pointed out SeaWorld’s captivating animals and removed them from their nature. Jett reacted to SeaWorld’s techniques for female dolphins to get them pregnant by force. She indicated that dolphins constantly experiencing this was a denial of animal rights. The rocker called out the SeaWorld and asked them when they would end the sordid breeding program.

Joan Jett said in her words:

“SeaWorld has caused public outrage by continuing to forcibly breed bottlenose dolphins and beluga whales in order to create generations of animals who then suffer in cramped tanks, deprived of any semblance of natural life. In the park’s breeding program, unwilling female dolphins are taken from the water and sometimes even drugged so they can’t fight back while SeaWorld staff thrust tubes filled with semen into their uteruses.

Some must endure this process repeatedly, only for their babies to die or be taken away and shipped off to other marine prisons. We can all agree that sexually abusing dolphins and whales who must carry out their forced pregnancies is disrespectful to these forms of intelligent life, heedless of these wonderful animals’ rights, and just plain wrong. My question is this: When will SeaWorld end its sordid breeding program?

SeaWorld has stated many times since the documentary’s release that what was portrayed in the film is untrue. However, many animal advocates still do not support the park’s existence. Joan Jett is among those who are against the park’s breeding program as an animal rights advocate.
