Phil X recently addressed his absence from Triumph’s reunion tour shows. He issued a public apology to fans in a statement shared on Instagram.

The guitarist apologized for missing the Moncton and Halifax shows this week. He explained that personal circumstances prevented his attendance.

“Hey, what’s happening? Phil X here. Firstly, I’d like to apologize to all the fans, the Triumph fans, that were at the Moncton and Halifax shows this week that I couldn’t be at,” he said. “I apologize. You know, stuff happens. Life happens. And I just couldn’t make it happen. So I truly apologize.”

Phil X also took time to thank Derek Sharp, who stepped in as his replacement for the missed performances.

“I’d like to secondly thank Derek Sharp for filling in, who did a great job. We got to hang out a little bit before. He’s an amazing dude. He’s a great musician. And it was just great that he could step in and do it,” he continued. “I wanna, you know, thank the band for being so understanding about my absence. And thirdly, see you in Ottawa tomorrow night.”

The apology comes after Phil X was spotted at Bon Jovi rehearsals during the time of the Triumph shows. This prompted speculation about his commitment to the reunion tour.

The scheduling conflict highlights Phil X’s dual commitments as a professional musician. Phil X, whose real name is Theofilos Xenidis, currently serves as the guitarist for Bon Jovi. This position requires significant touring and rehearsal obligations.

The missed shows occurred during Triumph’s highly anticipated Rock & Roll Machine Reloaded tour. The tour marks the band’s first full tour in over 30 years. Ultimate Classic Rock reported that the reunion tour launched on April 10 in Orlando with a 15-song set featuring classics like “Lay It on the Line” and “Magic Power.”

The Canadian rock legends’ return to the stage has generated significant excitement among fans who have waited decades for a proper reunion tour. Rogers Place noted that this tour represents Triumph’s 50th anniversary North American tour, celebrating the arena rock legends’ historic milestone year.

The tour’s significance extends beyond nostalgia. It represents a rare opportunity for fans to see the original members perform together again. The band’s decision to continue with replacement musicians when necessary demonstrates their commitment to honoring ticket holders and maintaining the tour schedule despite individual member conflicts.

Phil X’s promise to appear at the Ottawa show suggests that the scheduling issues have been resolved. This allows him to balance his commitments to both Bon Jovi and Triumph for the remainder of the reunion tour.
