Perry Farrell recently took the stage for a live performance, marking his first appearance since Jane’s Addiction’s split. A fan’s video captures Farrell joining Doors guitarist Robby Krieger on stage for The Doors’ 60th anniversary show.
The performance has generated mixed reactions from fans and observers. One Jane’s Addiction fan shared their perspective on Farrell’s return to performing, noting the complexity of their feelings about the situation.
“As angry as I am at Perry, I don’t want him to be miserable or unhealthy if that makes sense,” they said. “I’m glad he’s somewhat in his element and back to form.”
However, not all viewers were equally impressed with the performance. Some fans expressed concerns about the quality of the show. Others celebrated the collaboration.
“Too bad Perry Ferrell ruined the performance. His voice is so weak and I think he’s going tone deaf,” one fan commented. Another wrote, “Soooo cool. Intersection of two of my most beloved. Iconic.”
Farrell’s return to the stage comes after a tumultuous period for the legendary alternative rock band. Loudwire reported that Jane’s Addiction effectively split following a violent onstage altercation involving Perry Farrell in September 2024. The incident marked a dramatic end to what was supposed to be a triumphant reunion for the band.
The conflict escalated during a Boston concert on September 13, 2024. The Los Angeles Times documented that Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro onstage, abruptly ending the show. The altercation reportedly continued backstage, leading to the immediate cancellation of the remaining 2024 tour dates and the planned album release.
The aftermath of the incident has been marked by legal disputes and a permanent fracture within the band. Multiple civil lawsuits were filed by Navarro, Avery, and Perkins against Farrell, alleging assault and other claims. Farrell and his wife subsequently filed a countersuit alleging bullying by the other band members, deepening the rift between the parties.
By early 2025, the remaining members of Jane’s Addiction moved forward without Farrell. American Songwriter revealed that the trio of Navarro, Avery, and Perkins began working on new music together. They were unable to continue under the Jane’s Addiction name due to legal constraints. Navarro has been particularly vocal about the finality of the split, publicly declaring that a Jane’s Addiction reunion was no longer possible.
Farrell’s October 2025 performance at The Doors’ 60th anniversary show represents his first public appearance since these events unfolded. It signals his attempt to rebuild his career outside of the band that defined much of his legacy.
