The four-day music festival, Welcome To Rockville, is going under some performer changes due to an unfortunate incident of COVID. The festival’s Facebook account announced that Jane’s Addiction would not be performing, and instead, Perry Farrell‘s other band, Porno For Pyros, would take its place.

Jane’s Addiction was formed in 1985 by Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, and Chris Chane. The band went through a couple of hiatuses, but in 2008, they reunited and have been performing together ever since. This year, the band was scheduled to perform at the Rockville festival between May 19 and May 22.

Unfortunately, the band’s guitarist Dave Navarro has contracted COVID, and without him, the band retrieved from performing. The band’s vocalist Perry Farrell announced that he would be replacing Jane’s Addiction with his other band, Porno for Pyros. Farrell stated that he would still be performing with his other bandmates and singing some of Jane’s songs.

Here is the announcement posted by Rockville:

“While we’re saddened that Jane’s Addiction can no longer join us, we are beyond excited to have Porno For Pyros perform live for the first time in 26 years on our stage this weekend!

‘The gang and the government are no different. That makes me 1%. Rockville, although we are blue that Jane’s cannot be with you at this time due to Dave’s long bout with covid, I am still coming to Daytona, bringing to you for the first time in 26 years Porno For Pyros Featuring myself, Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, Peter DiStefano, and Mike Watt. We’ll play some of Jane’s songs for you as well, but for now, let’s recall: My boat’s capsized it’s gonna sink to the bottom. I can see the lights on the shore…’

– Perry Farrell

Sending healing vibes to you Dave Navarro.”

Porno for Pyros was formed in 1992 by Perry Farrell and Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins. The band was active from 1992 until 1998 and reunited in 2009. Finally, they came together in 2018, and they will perform at the Rockville festival this year. They have released two studio albums, one in 1993 and the other in 1996, and at the festival, they will be singing Jane’s songs, so the fans don’t feel that big of a difference in the headline change.
