Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell posted a couple of new tweets on his official social media account today and revealed his thoughts on DaBaby’s homophobic words about the LGBTQ+ community.
This week, the American rapper DaBaby was the target of heavy criticism after telling his fans to put their cell phone lights up only if they have not contracted HIV/AIDS or don’t have sexually transmitted diseases that will make the audience die in two or three weeks.
After many stars in the industry condemned DaBaby’s hateful remarks to the LGBTQ+ community including Madonna and Elton John, his friend and fellow musician Perry Farrell responded to one of the Twitter users who wants him to be replaced from the Lollapalooza Festival.
Farrell stated that DaBaby’s soul is hurting right now and asked the community to be more gentle and merciful towards the American rapper. After another Twitter user insisted that he does not believe that the rapper has changed his mind in three days, Perry responded saying he should be doubly pissed as he’d also slammed on addicts.
Here is what Perry wrote about his friend DaBaby:
“No issues knocking people off the bill. Spoke with his camp. I know DB’s soul is hurting. As LGBTQ+ folk hurt when they are attacked or discriminated. He wants to apologize in real-time. Please do. My prayer is that we all find acceptance. Forgiveness. Maybe an Obama teaching moment?”
A follower of Perry commented:
“Perry, I love and respect you, but please… His heart’s hurting? We need to accept someone who thinks AIDS+ people are ‘dirty?’ He changed his mind about it in what… 3 days? Why? Because he’s losing money and being criticized?”
Perry Farrell responded back:
“He’s also ripped junkies. I should be doubly pissed. The world has to come together nat. Come together in an amazing wondrous way.
Tears should flow, and we should arrive at a moment of self-realization that feels foreign yet exhilarating. A massive god consciousness at Lolla.”
