Paris Jackson Responds To Backlash Over Her Silence On Michael Jackson’s Birthday

Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris Jackson broke her silence on Instagram to explain why she does not wish her father on his birthdays. Jackson earlier received backlash from online trolls for not celebrating her father’s birthday, for which she decided to make an explanation with a video.

In the video, she clarified that the King of Pop was never fond of celebrating his birthdays when he was alive:

“So today’s my dad’s birthday, and back when he was alive, he used to hate anybody acknowledging his birthday, wishing him a happy birthday, celebrating it, nothing like that. He actually didn’t want us to even know when his birthday was because he didn’t want us to throw a party or anything like that.”

She then addressed the situation with social media being a platform where you are supposed to show your love and affection for everyone:

“That being said, social media is apparently how people express their love and affection these days, and if you don’t wish someone a happy birthday via social media, it apparently means that you don’t love them, you don’t care about them.”

Jackson concluded the video by slamming the trolls:

“There have been times where I don’t post anything for my dad’s birthday, and people lose their f*cking minds. They tell me to kill myself. And they’re basically measuring my love for my own father based off of what I post on Instagram.”

She also urged her followers to be kind to people whom they do not know personally in the post’s description:

“Please don’t use a man you have never met as an excuse to abuse, manipulate, and harass his daughter (who you also have never met.) Love.”

Though she earlier faced criticism and backlash for not celebrating the birthday of her father, the recent video received many agreeing and approving comments. See the video and the comments here.
