Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ bassist, Flea, is no stranger to the power of meditation in achieving mental well-being. Recently, the musician took to Twitter to share his experiences with various forms of meditation, and he even revealed a method that seems to be far better than George Harrison‘s.
Flea is known for his awareness of mental health and has always been open about his journey to find inner peace. As a reminder of his commitment to well-being, Flea recently tweeted the different meditation techniques he has tried. From attending Vipassana retreats and observing vows of silence to practicing Transcendental Meditation and studying with a Hindu swami, the bassist has delved deep into the world of meditation. We are aware of these terms, especially Transcendental Meditation from the Beatles meditation guru, George Harrison.
However, in his tweet, the bassist revealed the most efficient meditation technique he has discovered, and it’s not what you might expect from any meditation guru. The rockstar, probably jokingly, said that the most effective meditation method is none other than attending a Los Angeles Lakers game and passionately cheering for the team. Who would have thought that a basketball game could bring such enlightenment and awareness? We wonder if George Harrison had discovered this method as well.
He tweeted:
“I have been to multiple vipassana retreats where I obeyed a vow of silence and meditated deeply for ten hours a day. I studied transcendental meditation and have practiced it for years. I also studied with a Hindu swami his meditation. All of it life-changing. But I can confidently tell you that there is no more profound and sublime mantra than ‘LET’S GO LAKERS BOP BOP BOP BOP BOP’ repeated all night long at the top of one’s lungs and clapped out till hands hurt.”
It seems that Flea’s pursuit of inner peace has led him to the unexpected realization that sometimes, the most effective meditation method can be found in the most unlikely of places. Having seen recently attending a Lakers game, it’s clear that the musician discovered the joy and release that comes with cheering on his favorite team.
