Floor Jansen has addressed her departure from Nightwish in a video message on Facebook, thanking fans for their support and reassuring them about her future plans.
The former Nightwish singer spoke directly to her fans following news that she had parted ways with the band after 14 years. She acknowledged the emotional weight of the moment for both herself and the audience who had followed her career with the group.
“After the news that I parted ways with Nightwish, I got so many wonderful reactions wishing both me and Nightwish the best,” Jansen said. “Of course, you’re worried. Of course, you’re sad. So am I.”
She went on to outline what comes next for her. “So together we make this jump into this new era, this new start with, in my case, a new album coming early January 2027, and a whole tour. More to come.”
Jansen ended her message with gratitude for her time in the band and for the encouragement she has received. “So thank you for the 14 years in Nightwish and for this lovely, lovely, warm bath to start a new beginning. Cheers.”
The message came after Jansen’s sudden exit from the Finnish symphonic metal band was announced.
Jansen joined Nightwish as a touring member in 2012 after Anette Olzon’s departure. She performed live with the band for the first time on October 1, 2012, at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington. The following year, she became their full-time lead vocalist and disbanded her own band ReVamp to focus on Nightwish.
During her 14 years with the group, Jansen appeared on three studio albums: Endless Forms Most Beautiful in 2015, Human. :II: Nature. in 2020, and Yesterwynde in 2024. The 2015 album marked a new creative period for Nightwish, drawing inspiration from evolutionary biology, science, and the natural world with increasingly cinematic arrangements and expansive songwriting.
Nightwish announced Jansen’s departure on October 15, 2024, describing the decision as “necessary and important to us and our future ambitions” and stating that the band will continue and enter the studio in 2027 to record a new album. The band has not performed since their last show at Tons of Rock in June 2023.
Jansen’s new solo album “Hytress” will be released on January 15, 2027, via REVAMP Music and Warner Music. This will be her second solo studio album, following her acclaimed 2023 debut “Paragon,” which has accumulated almost 150 million streams. A full European and South American tour will follow in 2027.
