Paris Jackson recently broke her silence regarding the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic. She shared her concerns about the project’s accuracy in a statement on Instagram.

Jackson explained her decision to distance herself from the biopic project. She expressed concerns about its portrayal of her father in her video that can be seen on Reddit.

“So I just butted out and left it alone because it’s not my project,” she said. “They’re going to make whatever they’re going to make. A big reason why I haven’t said anything up until this point is because I know a lot of you guys are gonna be happy with it.”

Jackson went on to criticize the film’s approach and accuracy.

“A big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy, and they’re gonna be happy with it,” she continued. “The narrative is being controlled and there’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies. At the end of the day, that doesn’t really fly with me. Go enjoy it. Do whatever. Leave me out of it.”

Jackson’s comments come amid growing controversy surrounding the biopic’s production and her family’s involvement in the project.

Music Times reported that Jackson specifically addressed claims by actor Colman Domingo, who plays her grandfather Joe Jackson in the film. She denied any ongoing involvement beyond providing notes on an early script draft. She stated that her feedback was ultimately ignored by the production team.

“I spoke up, I wasn’t heard, I f**ked off. That’s it,” Jackson wrote in her Instagram post, directly tagging Domingo to clarify her position on the matter.

The biopic is being directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the titular role. The film has been in development for several years. The Fader noted that the film is scheduled for release in April 2026. It may potentially be split into two parts to accommodate the extensive material covering the King of Pop’s life and career.

The cast also includes notable actors such as Nia Long and Miles Teller. Specific details about their roles have not been fully disclosed. The production has faced various challenges and delays. Jackson’s recent statements add another layer of complexity to the project’s public reception.

This marks Jackson’s first comprehensive public statement addressing the controversial biopic project about her late father. It signals her clear intention to distance herself from any future promotional activities or endorsements related to the film.
