Paramore’s Hayley Williams Decides To Delete All Of Her Social Media Accounts

Paramore’s lead singer Hayley Williams recently posted a photo on Instagram and announced her departure from all of her social media accounts.

Social media connected everyone around the world immensely, especially in the last decade. With the emergence of the pandemic, social media got people to understand that everyone is going through the same thing and ease our minds a little bit. However, like many other things, it also has some disadvantages. Social media platforms can promote unrealistic beauty standards or could encourage oversharing things that are meant to be personal, and it is addictive.

For celebrities, it is even harder to maintain a boundary between them and what they share. All eyes are on them all the time. Paramore’s Hayley Williams is one of those celebrities. She recently decided to delete all of her Instagram posts, on which she has almost 3 million followers, and deactivate her Twitter which she had been on and off for a while now.

The only post Hayley has on Instagram is now a note explaining why she won’t be using social media anymore. The singer aims to not share her personal life on there and that the only parts of her people should know should be about her music. Hence, she stated that she will no longer be on her personal Instagram account, but her fans can find her on Paramore’s.

Here is Hayley Williams’ note:

“I’ve been on the internet and more specifically, social media since I was 15. Maybe even younger. It started with the blog sites. then Myspace. Then Paramore became a thing, and social media wasn’t even just for my personal use anymore, but it was part of the job. I crave connection, and the internet is a pretty good tool for that when it’s not tearing us apart.

The thing is, the connection is and will always be a part of my job (thankfully). As for my own personal experience with social media, I just don’t want it anymore. I’ve carefully considered this decision for almost a year now. Now I know for sure that my desire to move away from personal accounts (yes, even my finsta) is based on nothing more than my interest in keeping a boundary between a public and a private life and wanting to spend more time looking up and out, rather than down.

No judgment to anyone who loves their social media. Just a huge encouragement to anyone needing permission to create more boundaries and space to grow- sometimes ‘no’ is the kindest thing you can say… to anyone!.. Even yourself.

Finally, if you’re looking for me, don’t look here. Follow Paramore.

Paramore’s fans discussed her decision both under the comments and on Twitter. Some supported Williams for taking a decision for herself and well being, and others stated how disappointed they are to get this news instead of an announcement of a new album.
