Papa Roach members recently shared their favorite nu-metal songs of all time in a discussion posted on the band’s Instagram account.
The band members were asked to identify their top nu-metal tracks. This led to diverse responses from each musician.
When asked “What is your favorite nu-metal song?” Papa Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix responded with characteristic honesty.
“I’d be biased and say ‘Last Resort’ by Papa Roach, but I’ll give it to Limp Bizkit ‘Break Stuff,'” Shaddix said.
The other band members offered their own perspectives on the genre’s standout tracks.
“Korn’s ‘Blind.’ The first time I heard that opening intro to ‘Blind’ I was like, ‘Oh sh*t, this is something that I haven’t heard before,'” Papa Roach bassist Tobin Esperance said.
Drummer Tony Palermo also weighed in with his selection from the nu-metal catalog.
“I know Deftones don’t like to be coined as nü-metal, but ‘Shove It’ is up there,” Palermo said.
The discussion highlights the band members’ appreciation for the nu-metal genre that helped shape their own musical careers.
This conversation comes at an exciting time for Papa Roach. The band continues to build on their legacy while looking toward the future.
Loudwire reported that Shaddix announced Papa Roach is working on a new album set for release in early 2026. The album will feature around 10-11 concise songs designed for a quick, impactful listen. The frontman described the upcoming material as exciting and cinematic, with big riffs. He confirmed that the band will continue studio work throughout 2025 to release singles leading up to the full LP.
The band’s touring schedule reflects their continued momentum in the music industry. Nu Metal Agenda noted that Papa Roach is touring extensively in 2025-2026. The tour includes the Rise of the Roach U.S. tour with Rise Against and Underoath, plus stops in Guadalajara, Europe, Latin America, Australia, and possibly Southeast Asia and Japan.
Shaddix’s mention of “Last Resort” in the Instagram discussion carries special significance for the band. Metal Injection revealed that the frontman recently reflected on the 25th anniversary of “Last Resort” from their album Infest. He expressed gratitude for the band’s enduring success and fan connection after a quarter-century in the music business.
The new album will follow their 2022 release Ego Trip. It marks another chapter in Papa Roach’s evolution while maintaining the energy and authenticity that has defined their career since the late 1990s.
