Pantera’s Phil Anselmo recently addressed false reports about his health, specifically debunking AI-generated claims that he was battling cancer, in a video statement shared on Facebook.

The statement was made to counter misinformation circulating online about his health status and to reassure fans about his well-being.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Philip H. Anselmo here. There’s an A.I. page that is going bananas about me, and it’s putting out bullshit, bullshit, bullshit,” Anselmo said. “I’m healthy as a horse.”

The metal vocalist went on to update fans about his current projects and express gratitude for their concern.

“There’s incredible stuff going on. Mixing the new Down. King Parrot is coming into town. Performing the new En Minor in the studio, trying to get that finished. There’s a zillion things going on,” he continued. “Anyway, I hope everybody else is healthy, as we are over here. Much love to you, and thank you everyone who wished me a speedy recovery and all that. Come on. Damn A.I. shit.”

The video was posted to address AI-generated false news reports claiming Anselmo was facing devastating health issues, including blood cancer.

Anselmo’s health clarification comes at a time when he remains actively engaged in multiple musical projects and upcoming performances. This demonstrates his continued vitality in the metal scene.

Metal Injection reported that the Pantera and Down frontman is currently working on several projects simultaneously. These include mixing a new Down record and developing new material for his En Minor project. The musician’s busy schedule contradicts any suggestions of serious health issues that would prevent him from maintaining his rigorous creative output.

The timing of these false health rumors is particularly unfortunate given Pantera’s confirmed major festival appearances. WDRB confirmed that Pantera is set to headline the 2026 Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, scheduled for September 17-20. This major festival booking demonstrates the band’s continued prominence in the metal scene and Anselmo’s commitment to live performances.

The incident highlights growing concerns about AI-generated misinformation targeting public figures. MetalSucks noted that Anselmo specifically called out artificial intelligence platforms for spreading false information about his health status. He emphasized the need for fans to verify information through official sources.

Beyond addressing the health rumors, Anselmo’s statement also served to update fans on his various musical endeavors. These include his work with King Parrot and the ongoing development of En Minor material. This shows that his creative output remains as prolific as ever despite the false reports circulating online.
