Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has shared his first public comments on the band’s newly announced Wembley show. The announcement also confirmed Marilyn Manson as an opening act for the July 2027 UK date. That decision drew heavy criticism from Slipknot fans.

The statement focused on the band’s plans for 2027 and the significance of returning to the UK.

Taylor was first asked directly about the band’s future: “Corey, should we just start off with the elephant in the room? What’s happening? What’s going on with Slipknot in 2027?”

“Massive, massive worldwide tours is what’s happening,” Taylor said. “I am so proud to say our first live show will be at Wembley in July. We’re really, really excited, and we couldn’t have thought of a better place to kick everything off.”

Taylor went on to explain why the UK holds a special place for the band.

“This country was really the first place to believe in us, man, you know? And it really, it spread from there so quickly that it was almost instantaneous,” he continued. “So we’ve always had a very, very warm place in our heart, and a very loyal place in our heart for that island. And I’m so stoked that that’s where we’re starting. Like, it’s gonna be ridiculous.”

The announcement prompted a strong reaction from some fans. Thousands of comments appeared under the band’s Instagram post announcing the Wembley line-up. One fan wrote, “Not with a predator like Marylin Manson on the bill….. no thank you.” Another commented, “The slipknot i grew up listening to wouldn’t entertain the idea of taking someone with the reputation of Marilyn Manson on tour. I hope this tanks.” Some said Manson’s involvement would stop them buying tickets. Others called the booking “such a disappointment.” Many pointed to the allegations of sexual misconduct made against the singer by multiple women.

Taylor’s remarks arrive at a sensitive moment for the band, as the details of the show and its line-up are now public.

The Wembley concert takes place on Saturday, July 3, 2027. It is Slipknot’s only UK and European date of the year. It also marks the biggest headline show the band has played on British soil and their first date at the stadium, opening the “(sic)est Stadium Tour.” Manson will be joined on the bill by Lorna Shore and Hatebreed.

After London, the tour moves to North America. That leg begins on July 16 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. It ends on August 18 at Chase Field in Phoenix. Manson and Hatebreed are scheduled to rejoin the band for most of those dates. The shows will feature new staging and a setlist covering the band’s whole career.

Guitarist Jim Root has since responded to the criticism and distanced himself from the booking decision.

“Forgive my ignorance about who we do shows with. I honestly don’t keep up with new music.”

Further updates on the 2027 tour are expected to follow.
