Oli Sykes Was Afraid Bring Me The Horizon Fans Were Going To Hunt Him Down After ‘Post Human’

Oli Sykes recently reflected on Bring Me The Horizon’s latest album, ‘Post Human: NeX GEn,’ for a winter cover story for Kerrang!.

The band surprise released their 2024 album in May after pushing it back from September 2023 and then went on their largest-ever headline tour in the U.K. Sykes said he is now feeling more chill about the band’s future plans after a busy year.

“We wrote so much for NeX GEn, there’s so many cool songs that are kicking about, and I think the world would love to hear them,” he shared. “I would love to get out maybe a ‘director’s cut’ version of the record or something. But I’m trying to put less pressure on myself, and not promise anything!”

About worries over fan expectations following the album release, the vocalist added, “After the last record it felt like people were gonna start hunting me down and taking me for ransom [Laughs]. But I’m sure there’ll be new music and concerts and all that next year.”

‘NeX GEn’ is the second installment in Bring Me The Horizon’s ‘Post Human’ series, which began with 2020’s ‘Post Human: Survival Horror.’ It is also the last album to feature keyboardist Jordan Fish who left the band in late 2023.

Fish played a key role in the production of the 2024 record, working alongside Sykes, Zakk Cervini, Dan Lancaster, and BloodPop. Aurora, Underoath, Lil Uzi Vert, and Daryl Palumbo contributed to the music that received generally positive reviews.

Bring Me The Horizon is still on the road for ‘Post Human: NeX GEn.’ Their next show is on December 8 in Argentina.
