Oasis’ Liam Gallagher Shares His Pre-Show Ritual To Avoid Stage Fright

Oasis icon Liam Gallagher recently spoke to Sky News for an interview and revealed how he overcomes stage fright with his new pre-show ritual.
Despite having thousands of fans worldwide, an artist can still suffer from stage fright. For instance, Amy Lee and Ozzy Osbourne still get the jitters before shows, although they have been active in the scene for many years. Especially after big gigs or important shows, those artists try to overcome those feelings with some activities they do before taking the stage.
Some pre-show rituals help musicians put their minds at ease and focus on their work. Former Oasis star Liam Gallagher returned to Knebworth Festival in June, and this was the place where Oasis performed their most famous show. Gallagher is now scheduled to perform several international live shows to visit Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Abu Dhabi. Despite being in the rock scene for years, as it turns out, he also suffers from stage fright.
Recently, Liam Gallagher spoke to Sky News and revealed his pre-show ritual. He said he drinks half a bottle of brandy before going on the stage. Although he said he tried to minimize his drinking, Gallagher admitted following this ritual throughout 2021. The musician said he was getting battered on stage lately, so he needed a brandy to chill him out.
According to Gallagher, he isn’t as comfortable as when he was younger. For that reason, he stated that he relied on drinking to calm his nerves and get him through the shows. However, Gallagher argued he now chilled out and didn’t want to depend on alcohol to go on stage. As the Oasis icon said, this was a ritual he hadn’t done in years because it affected his performances.
Liam Gallagher told Sky News the following about his pre-show ritual:
“It’s half a bottle of brandy before I go on. I have backed it off now. But for the last year, I’ve been walloping the brandy with honey and hot water and going on a little bit. I’ve been getting a bit battered on stage recently. Not battered as much, I wouldn’t say nerves, but I think as you get older, you’re not as cocksure. So, I’ve had a brandy to chill me out a bit.
As you get on there, around the seventh or sixth song, you are thinking, ‘Yeah, this is actually all right this, man. I’ll have another one.’ Then by the time the eighth song comes in, by the time you’ve done your 20th song, you have done a bottle. But now I have chilled out. Towards the last couple of gigs, I have been going, ‘chill out maybe.’ You don’t want to be dependent on going on stage with alcohol.”
He then said:
“I don’t normally drink before I go on. I haven’t done it for years, so I have gotten back into drinking before I go on. But I think it makes for a bit of a lairy gig. All in moderation, do you know what I mean?”
Apparently, Liam Gallagher has been feeling a bit under pressure before his live performances, so he decided drinking would help him. However, the musician also admitted that this isn’t a positive habit as it can affect the quality of his shows.
