NME caught up with The Offspring’s Dexter Holland and Noodles during Mad Cool Festival in Madrid. During the conversation, when asked about the struggle they face when it comes to cutting down a few drinks, and whether other members still learn anything while touring, Noodle answered:
“We’re always trying to change how we do things. I’m trying to learn how to tour without drinking too much, that’s a struggle. But I’m working on it, I made some headway there.”
He continued with the new addition of Brandon Pertzborn to the band:
“I mean, we’re having a blast, we’ve got a new drummer with us who’s really added some energy. I don’t know how much we’re learning, we’re always kind of changing, always evolving. You know, shakeups are good.”
The Offspring will be touring in August and September with Sum 41 and Simple Plan. It was asked to Noodles why the band is going on tour with these groups, and how the tour will be in his opinion, he replied:
“[…] They’re both great bands, they bring a little bit different energy, different style. Simple Plan certainly has a lot of pop sensibilities, Sum 41 has almost some metal stuff going on in some of their songs and even some hip-hop in there. It’s all punk but all three bands are different, I think it’s going to be a phenomenal tour.”
