Nikki Sixx recently took to X for a Q&A session with fans, where he dropped some pearls of wisdom about songwriting. As someone who’s created many hits for Mötley Crüe, including ‘Shout At The Devil’ and ‘Dr. Feelgood,’ and also lent his pen to collaborate with names like Alice Cooper and Meat Loaf, Sixx’s reply to a fan asking for advice on composing read:
“Copy the greatest songs. Keeps your standard high.”
In past interviews, the bassist mentioned his readiness to jot down ideas whenever inspiration striked by saying he always carried a pencil and something to write on. Sharing his favorite part of the creative process during the recent session, he commented:
“Never knowing how it’s gonna turn out.”
