Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has hinted at a raw, stripped-back approach to recording new music. He shared his thoughts in a post on X (@NikkiSixx).

Sixx addressed his current recording philosophy, making clear that he is moving away from heavily polished production in favor of a more organic sound.

“I don’t really wanna make over produced music these days,” Sixx said. “I prefer it pretty much live off the floor, a few layers of guitars and vocals and give that monster a kick ass mix.”

He also pointed to a trusted collaborator for the project.

“The producer that always deliver’s the mail is Mr Bob Rock,” he continued.

The post drew enthusiastic responses from fans, with one commenting, “Loving this… and we are all waiting!!” Another added, “Thank you! I have about had enough of the overproduced and digital recordings! Give me something real and from the gut!” No official release date for new Mötley Crüe material has been announced.

Sixx’s mention of Bob Rock is far from a new pairing — the two share a long studio history. The renewed collaboration signals a deliberate return to a proven formula.

As reported by Ad-hoc-news.de, Bob Rock previously worked with Mötley Crüe on their self-titled 1994 album featuring John Corabi, and again on their 2008 record Saints of Los Angeles. His track record with the band makes him a natural choice as Sixx looks to capture a more live and unfiltered sound.

The band has also recently been linked to further studio work with Rock. Ad-hoc-news.de noted that new songs have been framed as part of an ongoing effort to stay creatively active rather than simply rely on their legacy catalog.

The band is also keeping busy on the live front. Ad-hoc-news.de reported that Mötley Crüe are currently active on the road in 2026 with a core lineup of Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and John 5. John 5 continues to fill the guitar role previously held by founding member Mick Mars.

The combination of an active touring schedule and renewed studio momentum suggests the band is pushing forward on multiple fronts. With Sixx publicly outlining his vision for the sound of new material, the pressure is now on to deliver. If his comments are any indication, the next chapter of Mötley Crüe will be anything but polished.
